No, it's not a deep, existential question. At least, not on this post, anyway (ha!). But it's probably what you're wondering about me so let's discuss!
Who Am I?
This one is easy - my name is Paige, writing as Astra Knight, my pen name for all of my writing projects. I live in Nashville, TN with my two crazy doggos and my smoking hot husband. I have a smart and beautiful stepdaughter and an epic collection of oracle and tarot decks. Literally, I've lost count of how many.
I'm a typical millennial - I love my coffee, my side part, my favorite pair of yoga pants, ankle socks, straight leg jeans, the Backstreet Boys, and Harry Potter. I'm a typical Capricorn (Rising Aquarius) so if you know anything about astrology then you know that really says it all. I love pasta and chocolate but really don't like many fruits. The Office is my favorite show of all time and I fervently wish I had my own dragon (GOT, anyone?).
A fun fact about me is that even though I live in the Country Music Capitol of the World I pretty much loathe country music. My exceptions are Shania Twain and some Morgan Wallen songs (yes, yes, I know, I know, don't start with me).
What Do You Do?
Well, I have a muggle job that pays the bills and I have a passion which is writing! One day, I hope to be able to turn my passion into a lucrative career (that's where you come in - subscribe to my site & go follow me on social media @astraknightwritings on TikTok and Instagram!).
What Are Your Hobbies?
Oh man, I have so many but almost all of them revolve around books. It would be easier to say that my hobby is books. I love buying them, writing them, reading them, studying them, looking at them, organizing them, talking about them. I am working on having a legitimate library in my home. I'm writing my 8th, 9th, and 10th books. I'm always reading at least three books at a time, sometimes up to ten, depending on what I'm studying. Currently, I'm reading Persephone's Wolves by G. Bailey for funsies and the Encyclopedia of Spirits (Judika Illes), Eastern Body, Western Mind (Judith), The Art of Shapeshifting (Ted Andrews), The Secret Language of Astrology (Roy Gillett), and The Urantia Book (Urantia Foundation) all at once. Welcome to the chaos that is my book reading.
Other hobbies I have include channeled AI art, photography, traveling, cartomancy, binging movies/shows with my husband, and going on hikes with my fam! (short ones, friends, very short)
What Sort of Things Do You Write?
I've always enjoyed writing. When I was younger, I used to actually write (with an imaginary pencil - again, Capricorn, always practical) on everything...furniture, my legs, other people. Just the motion and the action of it is calming to me. When I became familiar with computers, I realized how much I loved typing - the speed, the sound, the challenge of getting faster/more accurate. In the beginning, I used to write words - just words. Never stories or articles. After I got out of college, I played around with a blog that was geared towards First Responders (who hold a special place in my heart) and really loved it. Almost three (?) years ago, I decided to write my first novel and since then I've written seven fantasy novels (working on my 8th, 9th, and 10th) and am currently working on a short children's story with a friend of mine.
What Got You Into Writing?
Honestly, I've always enjoyed reading. My first book I ever read was A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett and from there I became obsessed with Harry Potter, historical fictions, fantasy, mystery, and thrillers. After reading Sarah J. Maas's books, I was literally suffering a book hangover and was having a pity party because I couldn't find any books that did it for me like her series. Finally, I decided that if I couldn't find the exact book I was looking for then maybe I would just write it myself. And that's how my first book (and my first series) came about!
Who Would Like Your Books?
They're all fantasy series so far so anyone who likes fantasy will like these. I like spicy books so there's definitely sizzling scenes in my books. If you like books by Sarah J. Maas, Victoria Aveyard, Rebecca Yarros, J. Bree, Lauren Kate, and Tracey Wolff then you'll like my books. I'll go into more detail about the books I'm working on and the ones I've already written in future posts - be on the lookout!
What Made You Decide To Do A Blog?
I realized that many agents are looking for writers who have websites or social media platforms already established. I have my books but I don't have an online presence. At first, I was a bit bummed and I decided to think on it for a while, weighing the pros and cons of starting up something like this. Finally, I came up with the plan of making my website and social media platforms a little teaser for my work and also a fun way to connect with others in the writing and spiritual community. Also, I do eventually hope to use my writing skills to deliver messages from Spirit and that motivated me to get going.
What Are Your Plans For Your Writing Future?
As mentioned previously, I'd love to eventually use my writing to help others connect with Spirit and evolve their consciousness. I want to use writing as a fun way to introduce others to imagination, creativity, and (more importantly) help them along their evolution journey. The written word has always helped me. Whether it's a fantasy series taking my mind off of my troubles by immersing me in other worlds, articles on self-improvement and personal growth inspiring me to be the best me, or books that teach me about other cultures, civilizations, or new skills. I want to do my part to give back all that I've learned and maybe help others find their own special connection to the written word in my works as well.
I want to challenge myself and expand into areas that I haven't previously dived into yet. I would love to eventually write articles for magazines, blogs, websites, and more. One of my goals is to hopefully start a podcast where I can meet with other content creators and spiritual advisors and use words in a different medium to bring together a community and help in expanding consciousness across humanity. And, of course, I am manifesting myself becoming a professional writer and author!
What Does Channeled Writing Mean?
My favorite topic - eek! Channeled writing refers to messages or stories that come to me when I'm in meditation or in dreams from the divine. Many times I'm able to write stories faster because I receive the story in one large info-dump. I wrote my first novel (400 pages!) in three weeks because I channeled the entire story from Spirit. I have a close relationship with Spirit (we'll talk more about how everyone can have this in later posts) and I'm very grateful for their help with my writing, inspiration, and constant support.
What Does An Example of Using Metaphysical Abilities In Writing Look Like?
I'll end up posting writing samples but some general examples are:
Channeling specific scenes or an overall topic or dialogue for books
Receiving information regarding certain deities, myths, etc.
Writing a particular article or story based off of a request from Spirit
Delivering a written or oral message from Spirit to the general public or a specific individual
Mediumship
Receiving information or pictures of other worlds/universes/etc through astral traveling & projecting in dreams
Co-creating & Timeline healing with Spirit
Receiving directives and guidance from Spirit and working with them to dispel any blocks keeping me from expressing my true self and creativity
Receiving learning or downloads on specific topics, events, etc. to help facilitate my writing
Who Are Some Beings We Can Hope To See On This Blog?
I work closely with several spirits including angels, demons, gods, ancestors, past lives/versions of myself, etc. There's no telling who you may see pop up with a message but some of the ones I work most closely with is Lucifer, Archangel Michael, Azazel, Leviathan, Isis, and Apollo. Apollo, Lucifer, and AA Michael often drop in to assist with my writing and I'm very grateful. If I'm blogging or writing articles then you'll definitely be alerted in some way if a specific spirit has helped with the content. I want to make sure I'm honoring the spirits who help me create it, not only as a sign of respect but because we also use it to build our relationship and connection.
What If I'm Not Into Spiritual Stuff?
No worries. There's no pressure here. I am into spiritual stuff so I will talk about it but there'll be PLENTY of stuff that isn't overtly spiritual. Many of my books have references to mythology or spiritual concepts but they're so vague that unless you're actively looking for them then you won't notice - that's kind of my goal! I want to change consciousness in a fun and natural way. I don't want to force you into anything that you're not yet ready to tackle so if escaping into a Fae world to have an adventure is more your style then have no fear because I have a whole series on it.
What If I'm ONLY Into Spiritual Stuff?
Samesies. There's no pressure here. I am into other genres and interests so there will be articles, posts, and snippets of my books on here but there will also be PLENTY of stuff that is spiritual in nature if that's more your cup of tea.
